Space: Progress Is Possible

Space: Progress Is Possible Contents Our Mission A Basic Premise A Sprint, Not A Marathon How Can We Contribute? The Tipping Point Doing Our Part __ Lots is happening in space, with lots more either planned or underway. Observing Space Age 2.0 in action is almost like sitting trackside at a Formula 1 event. A lot is going on. Twenty really flashy, really cool, really impressive things just went whizzing by in a body-pulsing blur and, while we saw a lot, we mostly don’t recall many details. The latest space age is a lot like that. When it comes to our progress in space, like the race, there may be a lot to follow, but we’re pretty sure of two things:   1. There’s way more to it than we thought. 2. It’s exciting. Our Mission Let’s take another look at the mission of Forty Suns .   To unite the focus of humanity toward common extraplanetary goals that create an ever-improving future, by building upon the things we hold in common despite the things we hold different. Our Space Future

Our Space Future Contents The Reality Facing Us Choices Our Fragility We Are The Architects Of The Future Ad Astra Positive Gain: Humanity’s Native State Shared Purpose __ Space Age 2.0 is underway. If we’re to make it a success, it will require our collective determination. That we once again have “the right stuff”. Our space future depends on each of us increasing our own knowledge and understanding of the things that will get us there.   Space is the answer. We should all be interested. The Reality Facing Us Earth is vulnerable, and not, primarily, because of us. The Earth is vulnerable in a cosmic sense; a problem for us because we don’t yet have other options. Until we do have options we have a bit of a situation which creates two major—if seemingly in conflict—mandates when it comes to our current world. We must: Take care of it. Find ways off of it. Not to escape; Earth is great. Merely to have that choice. Your home town is probably great too, but you’d hate never being able t

The New Space Age: A Regulatory Conundrum

A Regulatory Conundrum: The Old Guard & The New Space Age Contents Sanity Checks The Role Of Oversight Fortifying Our Teams A New Era What Needs To Happen? Estimation Of Effort Our Space Future Civilizing The Wild West __ One of our strengths as humans is the ability to evaluate the future and make plans. It’s how we have civilizations, train schedules, tiered prizes for ugly sweater contests, elections … You get the idea. We look ahead. We estimate what will be needed. We prepare. Not always perfectly, of course. Sometimes quite horribly. But the fact that an Empire State Building exists in New York City – let alone that a New York City exists – would seem to speak to the notion that, mostly, we’re pretty damn good at figuring out how to do stuff. When it comes to space a storm is brewing. One we may not be planning well enough for. A wave we need to get ahead of. Many are aware of it. Many are pushing for action. It’s time to give it the full focus it deserves. It’s time to app
